Choose Reality is about spreading the message "Choose Reality". Whatever it takes to get these two little words in the minds of as many people as we can as often as we can. We want people to see it - hear it - think about it. We are about spreading the message of reality everywhere.
What we want you to do is put "Choose Reality" on your web site. Help us get the Choose Reality message out.
This is a statement of belief for people who identify themselves as Realists and who believes that real reality as it really is, is an important position to assert.
What is this about? Why are we doing this? Because we are tired of the lies. We can not live the lie anymore. We have to get back to what is really real and start making real decisions about the future of the world from the perspective of reality.
We believe that only the truth shall set you free.
Choose Reality is a statement telling the religions of the world and the governments of the world that reality is important to us. We can not and will not submit to fiction based belief systems and we will not tolerate governments and politicians who lie to the people. We can not accept the lies about the war. We are making a statement that what we want is the truth, where ever that leads. Choose Reality is part of a Reality Movement of people of all walks of life who come together for the purpose of asserting the importance of reality and reality based thinking. We are taking a hard stand for what is real, because when you take reality away, you don't have anything left. |
Choose Reality is taking a stand against brainwashing through Cognitive Dissonance. It is not OK for the government to feed us a constant and steady diet of lies and deception so as to reprogram the population to get used to being lied to. We refuse to accept increasing levels of government dishonesty.
Cognitive Dissonance is explained very well at Changing Minds.org. It is the feeling of uncomfortable tension which comes from holding two conflicting thoughts in the mind at the same time.
Dissonance increases with:
- The importance of the subject to us.
- How strongly the dissonant thoughts conflict.
- Our inability to rationalize and explain away the conflict.
Cognitive dissonance is a very powerful motivator which will often lead us to change one or other of the conflicting belief or action. The discomfort often feels like a tension between the two opposing thoughts. To release the tension we can take one of three actions:
- Change our behavior.
- Justify our behavior by changing the conflicting cognition.
- Justify our behavior by adding new cognitions.
To put it more simply, we can either fix the problems or lie to ourselves and pretend that the problems aren't there. We have a choice between living the lie or dealing with reality. Dealing with reality is hard but not dealing with reality is even harder. It's just like being a drug addict or running up debt on your credit card. The sooner you give it up the better off you are. That's why we assert that we can no longer continue to live the lie and we say, "Choose Reality"!
All we are say-ing, is give truth a chance.
One of the myths that we are expected to believe is that it is OK to lie to the people "for their own good". That it's OK to lie to start wars that the public is just too stupid to understand, and that we are expected to continue to believe the lies after the lies are exposed as an act of patriotism. That is so wrong that it makes my skin crawl. |
Choose Reality is a stand that we demand reality in government and politics. Choose Reality is a statement that it is not OK for governments to lie to us. That it is not OK to fabricate stories in order to start wars. We believe that governments lying to the people is wrong.
Choose Reality on a political web site means that you stand for what is really real. It is a statement for free speech and political freedom. It is a statement against corporate controlled puppet media. It is a statement against government controlled media. It is a statement against religious controlled media. Choose Reality is a statement that you support the truth, where ever that leads to.
We live in a society where we are believing our own lies and it's a trend that is very dangerous. People are acting as if they are above reality. That reality is whatever you can get people to believe in. People have turned their back on objective reality. They think that we can start wars based on lies and then pretend that it never happened. We can pretend that there is some noble cause that doesn't exist. But what does reality say about it? Choose Reality says that we can't live the lie. Choose Reality is your statement to the world that reality matters and that you are going to go with what is really real. Choose Reality is your refusal to live the lie. |
This is a response to assertions made by the Christian Right that America is a Christian Nation and if you aren't Christian then you're not welcome here. They are openly trying to steal this country and force their fiction based religion on Realist who believe that reality is what's really real.
Our response - screw you!
We realist are not going to let it happen. We aren't going to let you destroy civilization just to feed your religious fantasies. Our response is - Choose Reality. We're fed up and we're pissed off. We are not going to put up with it any more. When you cross the line from the benignly misguided to threatening then it's time to bite back. We've had enough and we aren't going to take it any more.
We're going to talk about what's real, what's really real. The kind of reality that stands up to doubt and scrutiny. The kind of reality that relies on evidence, is supported by logic and reason, and stands up to scientific principles. We're talking about the kind of reality that doesn't go away when you stop believing in it. Choose Reality is a statement that we believe in what is real and that we are ready to talk about anything in the context of it's reality. It is a statement that we refuse to live the lie. We do not accept a life of fantasy.
We challenge faith based religions on the basis of what is real. We stand for reality. Where do you stand on reality?
Choose Reality is a direct challenge to faith based religions who are making false claims about reality. Religions that are trying to redefine science and move education and civilization back into the Dark Ages. We challenge the unquestionable claims that one is supposed to believe on blind faith. We challenge you to prove your position and we are ready to prove ours. We believe in accountability and if you think your deity exists and that you have found the true religion then trot it out here because if you are right, we'll all join you.
The word Reality has healing powers. Every time you think about reality you move closer to the real world.
Choose Reality is a message that is like an anti-virus program for the mind. It digs in and makes people think about what really is real. It make people wonder about wondering, think about thinking, and ask the question, "What is Real?" We believe that reality is a good thing and that the world would be better of putting reality first. (Reality First - hmmmmmmm - another good line to go with.)
If you're a believer and you think what you believe in is real, then promoting reality shouldn't be a problem for you, should it?
Are we anti-Christian? Not at all. Are we against intolerant Christianity who thinks there no room in the world for anyone who doesn't believe like they do? Absolutely we are. This planet is just a spec of dust in the universe, but it's our spec of dust. We are all here together and we are going to have to figure out how to get along so that the world that we leave the next generation is better than the world our parents left to us. And that isn't going to happen if the world is dominated by people trying to live out their Armageddon fantasy.

Here's a little tip for the Christian community who wants to win Realists' souls over for Jesus. All you have to do is prove what you believe in is real. You figure that out then we all become Christians because Choose Reality isn't about Atheism, it's about reality. So if you can prove it, we're on board. If you can prove that what Christianity believes in is real, we'll all become Christians. But if you can't prove it then what does that say about what you believe in really? I ask the question, is your God so weak that he's scared of reality? If what you believe in isn't real then why believe in it? We invite you to Choose Reality. |
Choose Reality is not affiliated with any political organization. We are not Democrats, Republicans, Communists, Socialists, or with any political group. We are neither on the "left" or the "right". We are narrowly focused on reality itself and doing whatever we can to get people to think about reality and to ask themselves, "What is Real?" and to promote reality as something that is important in sociery.
We are not promoting Politics or Religion. We are simply promoting Reality.
We are loosely associated with the Church of Reality in that we share similar goals and the same person, Marc Perkel, created both web sites. The Church of Reality however is a full religion with all the baggage thereof. Choose Reality is only about spreading the phrase "Choose Reality". We identify ourselves as Realists and we are forming a Reality Movement which is an association of different groups who share the view that reality is a good thing and should be promoted. |
What we want you to do is really simple. We want you to put "Choose Reality" on your web site.
We are creating a library of banners for you to help you get the job done. You can use our banners or create your own banners. You can also just use text. Whatever gets the Choose Reality message across. You can link to our banners or you can host your own banners. Just get the message out there in front of as many eyeballs as you can. That's what we want.
Additionally we would like it if you linked to this web site to encourage other people to do the same thing. The more web sites that say Choose Reality the faster the message of reality spreads. If you link to us we'll add you to our links page and share some Google juice with you. That makes it a win/win deal for both sites.
If you are so motivated we encourage you to print bumper stickers that say "Choose Reality" and give them away or whatever to get them on cars. That way we can reach people who surf the highways rather than just the Internet.
I would love it if I could find a few rich people out there who could afford to buy some good billboard space along major highways and put "Choose Reality" on it. That would really help a lot.
We also need media coverage. We have a culture war here and lets take advantage of it. This site needs to be in the news. Anything that can help make that happen is helpful.
